Peter Bowman is a Professional Cheshire based Artist, Illustrator and Author with 30 years experience. He works as an Illustrator in watercolours, pencil, pen & ink, to create very beautiful detailed illustrations for many Children's books and Commercial illustration. Pete's early work was influenced by artists such as Salvador Dali, Nicola Bailey, Shirley Hughes, Kate Greenaway and Arthur Rackham. Pete's first commission on leaving Art College was to illustrate The Rudyard Kipling 'Just So' books for Mothercare. Also one of Pete's books, "Is That What Friends Do?" famously became the first children's book to be featured on 'Step Inside' Storytime, on CBeebies - TV which launched on the 11th February 2002.

Another creation of Pete's is 'Tiny Ted', follow the adventures of the worlds smallest teddy bear. He has also created many other characters. Including two bears for Interflora named 'Sweet William & Rose' & more recently 'Inspiration NW Dragon.

Peter will do School Author Visits including World Book Day. So book him early if you would like a visit! As a visiting Illustrator/Author he will demonstrate how he creates his picture books for children. His commercial illustration work has been used by many blue chip companies such as Walt Disney, Virgin Airways, Sainsbury, Marks and Spencer, N.S.P.C.C., Greenpeace, The Prince's Trust, The Woodland Trust and Friends of the Earth. In 25 years Peter has illustrated 48 Picture books, and over 200 worldwide. He is published in 20 countries, which includes the USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East.

Peter is currently working in partnership with 'Inspiration NorthWest' He has developed a set of eight Children's Care Cards for the Health Service, which includes his established children's book character 'Tiny Ted' along with a new child friendly character the 'Inspiration NW Dragon' The Care Cards were developed to explore the 'How I felt about it' element of eight aspects of emotional care for children when they visit hospital and other medical institutions. At present they are being trialled at several hosptals across the England. A new creation of Peter's is called 'Wobbly Horse' Please view this short animation of 'Wobbly' taking his very first steps!- He is currently being developed for the Childeren's TV market.
